My name is Angela Aguilar. I was born in Mexico and relocated to Texas with my family at a young age. I am a Christian mother of two children, aged 12 and 5. With seven years of experience as a high school math teacher and four years as an online educator, I have had the privilege of working with students across a diverse range of ages and abilities. I am deeply passionate about education and child development; however, I have witnessed firsthand the detrimental effects of politics, bullying, and other negative distractions that have permeated our educational system. Through my initiative, A Mindful Learner, I aspire to provide an alternative approach to education for students within our community. I believe that every student possesses tremendous potential, and I am committed to exploring the depths of that potential through this program.
Our vision at A Mindful Learner is to create opportunities for students to collaborate while empowering them to navigate their own learning journeys. We strive not only to offer supplemental classes and tutoring but also to make a meaningful impact within our community. Our activities and classes are designed to cultivate responsible individuals who understand the significance of good habits. We encourage children to look beyond themselves and recognize the positive contributions they can make. Through volunteering and field trips, students will gain valuable insights into the workings of the world around them.
A Mindful Learner was established to address the needs of homeschool parents and their children. Our primary objective is to prioritize students’ emotional and mental well-being, alongside the development of critical thinking skills. We provide a safe, bully-free, and politically neutral environment where children can thrive in a small class setting. Our daily activities are designed to inspire learners to think independently and engage in problem-solving. We encourage students to take ownership of their education by selecting activities that align with their interests. This approach aims to foster a sense of independence and control over their own learning journey.
